Important News for Medicaid Waiver Recipients
In late December 2005, the Alaska Superior Court issued a decision and entered an order against the State of Alaska prohibiting it from taking any steps to terminate the plaintiffs' Medicaid Waiver benefits unless and until the State could first prove that the underlying medical conditions upon which the waivers had been granted had materially improved. The court's decision and order are posted here.

This combined pamphlet also outlines CHOICE Programs (Community and Home Options to Institutional Care for Everyone) available to people who otherwise would have to be placed in a nursing home. Medicaid rules vary from state to state, so this pamphlet should not be regarded as a reliable guide for nursing homes or Medicaid questions outside Alaska.
